2020-2021 WHS Limited Open Campus for Grades 11 and 12
Click here for the WHS 2020-2021 Limited Open Campus Online Permission form for Grades 11 and 12.
Weston High School has a Limited Open Campus Option for students in grades 11 and 12 that permits such students to leave the high school during unassigned time.
For the 2020-2021 school year we are waiving the GPA requirements due to the unique circumstances of this year.
Parents/Guardians may grant permission for their student to leave during any unassigned time, or restrict them to leaving only when unassigned time occurs during the last period of the school day. Juniors and seniors who meet and maintain the criteria for the Limited Open Campus Option, and who have submitted the completed and signed permission form, may exercise this option.
The school administration reserves the right to revoke the Limited Open Campus Option at any time for students who violate school rules and regulations, who do not maintain a positive attendance record, and/or who fail to operate motor vehicles in a safe and legally permissible fashion.
Students whose parents/guardians give them permission to exercise the Limited Open Campus Option are required to sign out of the building at the Security Desk and use the main doors when leaving. Students who exit the building without signing out in the manner required will forfeit the Limited Open Campus Option for a period of time determined by the school administration. Any scheduled classes that are missed (or to which the student arrives more than 10 minutes late) as a result of a student’s leaving campus will be considered unexcused. Unexcused absences and tardies carry consequences that are detailed in the attendance policy of which students and parents should make themselves aware (see WHS Handbook, Board of Education Policy and Administrative Regulation 5113, and Board of Education Policy and Administrative Regulations 5113.2). Students and parents/guardians must accept all responsibility for student behavior when the student leaves school property during the school day.
Parents/Guardians must complete this Limited Open Campus Option Permission Form, indicating whether they grant permission for their student to exercise this option. In order for open campus to be effective the first day of school for your student, we ask that you submit the form by Monday, August 31, 2020. Once school begins, our turnaround time is 48-hours from time of submission. Parents/Guardians should complete this form regardless of the option chosen, and if this form is not completed and submitted as required herein, the student will not be permitted to exercise the Limited Open Campus Option until such time as the completed form is properly submitted and recorded. Please note that parents/guardians may change their election on the Limited Open Campus Option Permission Form at any time during the school year by submitting a new online form.
If the parent/guardian selects Option A or Option B, he or she must agree to and sign the Waiver, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless Agreement below. In addition, a student who is eighteen (18) years of age or older or an emancipated minor must also agree to and sign the Waiver, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless Agreement. If either the parent/guardian or such student fails to agree to and complete the Waiver, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless Agreement, the student will not be permitted to participate in the Limited Open Campus Option.
