To Our Weston Public School Families:

We are in unprecedented times, our normal routines are turned upside down and I know that as a community we are all struggling with anxiety around our physical and emotional health, financial uncertainty, and concern for loved ones near and far. I am encouraged by the unity and philanthropy I see in our town toward the greater community as our country continues to respond to this global health crisis. We all must continue to work together to support and be a calming influence to our students, from our youngest and neediest learners, who may not understand exactly what is happening, to our high schoolers who are in the midst of college admission process and are seeing many of their spring activities being cancelled.

I want to reassure you that your district administration and teachers are working tirelessly to put a thoughtful and robust distance learning program in place for Weston school children. This process started well before the district closed. Our teachers have been committed to this program and the support of all unions has been critical to our progress and success. Additionally, all surrounding districts are in frequent communication and are sharing best practices in achieving the highest quality educational models we can for all learners. We continue to receive guidance from the State on our requirements for fulfilling our educational obligations for the school year and will continue to update you on these evolving developments. We ask for your patience as we navigate these new waters.

In my 27 years living in this town, Weston has always been an example of how a community adapts and comes together in times of need. While the uncertainty will continue for some time, there is one thing I am certain about, Weston will emerge from this crisis and continue to prosper. Soon we will all be back to our busy lives, cherish this time with your family and be safe!

Thank you for continued support and flexibility during these trying times.

On behalf of the Weston Board of Education,
Tony Pesco, Chair.
