We would like to take this opportunity to remind families of the procedures surrounding reporting of absences and changes to schooling scenarios at WHS. Please review the following:

Absence From Expected Schooling Scenario

When in-person learners are unable to report to school due to illness or other short-term absence reason, the absence should be reported in the morning by calling the attendance line at (203) 221-6501. The reason for absence should be stated, including any necessary information if the absence may be COVID-related, and it should be stated whether or not the student is expected to participate remotely that day.

When students expected to participate remotely (including off-cohort and voluntary distance learners) will be unable to join Zoom classes, those absences should be reported to the attendance line as well.

Switch To/From Distance Learning

Parents of students wishing to elect or return from Voluntary Distance Learning must email their student’s assistant principal in advance of the expected change. If the request is due to a COVID-related reason (positive case or exposure out of school, travel-related quarantine), the school nurse, Sheryl Zulkeski, should be copied.
