Principal's Welcome Message

Welcome to Weston Middle School, where we work in partnership with parents and the community to support our students as they transition from childhood to adolescence.  Our talented and energetic faculty and staff strive to challenge each student to grow through a rigorous and relevant curriculum in a caring and safe environment.  Our goal, like that of the district as a whole, is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to become productive global citizens who seek to make our community, nation, and world a better, more sustainable, just, and equitable place for all.

These middle years are a time of rapid academic, physical, and social-emotional growth and development for our students.  This is why we embrace the middle school philosophy where teams of core academic teachers share the same group of students and meet regularly to discuss and plan how best to meet their individual and collective needs.  Our middle school program allows students to explore a variety of areas in addition to the core academic areas, including art, music, world language, health and wellness, physical education, coding, technology and engineering.  We are fortunate to have a robust co-curricular program that provides opportunities for students to continue to develop their skills in collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.  These activities include mock trial, robotics, math team, the WMS Morning Show, yearbook, newspaper, student government, Short Wharf musical theater, and others.  Our Wingman program trains students to be leaders in our school as they focus on ways to make sure that all students feel included, accepted and valued.

Our SOAR programs seeks to recognize and promote our key values of safety, ownership, attitude and respect.  Our social-emotional learning builds on the foundations of the RULER approach and tools such as the Mood Meter and Meta-Moment to provide students with skills related to emotional problem-solving (DBT STEPS-A).

We are fortunate to have a very active and supportive PTO whose members’ time, talent, and treasure enriches the teaching and learning at WMS and contributes to building a positive school climate for students and staff.  I am truly honored to serve the students, families, and staff that comprise our WMS community and encourage you to reach out to me if I can be of assistance.

Dear Students, Staff, and Parents:

I am thrilled to serve as the Assistant Principal at Weston Middle School.   At WMS, our educators deliver instruction and curriculum by engaging students in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication, to best develop their decision-making and problem solving skills. The middle school’s diverse educational programs and co-curricular activities allow students to explore their interests and have new experiences out of their comfort zone. Using inquiry-based learning and rigorous content, our educators challenge all students to explore real-world problems and engage in meaningful learning.

The teachers and administrative team hold the highest standards for all students at WMS. High expectations for student respect, responsibility, and integrity help create a positive learning environment where all students feel enthusiastic about their school experiences. It is our goal that each child will reach their greatest potential both academically and behaviorally, along with being fully prepared for success in high school, college, and in their career.

The collaboration with the staff, students, families, and community members at Weston Middle School creates a culture that promotes the philosophy of life-long learning. It is my belief that this is the type of culture where all members of our school community can thrive.

Our curriculum and instruction intertwine concepts, content, and skills to engage students providing them with opportunities to develop and demonstrate their proficiency in the following district foundational, academic, personal, and social competencies.

COVID-19 Update #1

COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) is a serious international health concern. It now has become a focus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State of Connecticut. Nationwide, there have been only 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of February 26, 2020. Nevertheless, school districts are being asked to inform families and employees of precautionary steps to mitigate the spread of the disease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Lost and Found?

Lost and Found is located in the Cafetaria. 
The Main Office will hold cell phones, watches, eyeglasses and any valuables. 

Do I have to call the main office for my child's absence or tardy?

Always call first thing in the morning to report an absence or if your child will be late.

Can my child have an Ipod or cell phone in school?

Ipods are not allowed in school.  Cell phone use during the school day is also prohibited.  Any student bringing a cell phone to school must keep it in his/her locker during the school day.

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

What is the procedure for picking up my child early from school?

Your child should bring in a note from you to the main office on arrival to school.  He will receive an early dismissal slip which is to be signed by his teacher and will enable hm/her to leave class.  On his way out he is to drop off the slip to security.

Parents are required to come to the front office if no permission slip was written or there is an emergency leave required.
