Dear Weston Public Schools Community:

You may be aware that this morning Staples High School in Westport was put into lockdown. This morning I also received notification from the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Service and Public Protection about swatting calls occurring at schools today.  This is a tactic to deceive emergency services into sending police to an address, which in this case is the schools.

Weston Police Chief Ed Henion and I spoke this morning.  We have protocols in place across our district as well as police presence on campus. Chief Henion also has sent additional police to each school.  If one of our schools receives such a call, we will follow the procedures outlined in our district security plan.  Please know that the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.  At this time, we have received no swatting calls. We will communicate via Swiftk12 if this occurs.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lisa Barbiero
Superintendent of Schools
