Student Registration and Residency Requirements

The Weston Public Schools logo features a gold 'W' on a blue oval.

Weston Public Schools provides education to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade students in two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

In addition, the Hurlbutt Elementary School’s Early Learning Center (ELC) offers services for Weston’s preschool students with special education needs. Since there are no general education preschool classes in the school district, we have developed an integrated program to include peer models. The ELC is open to Weston Families only. The program runs five days a week, 8:30 am - 1:15 pm, with parents expected to provide transportation. Please refer to the Pupil Services and Special Eduation section for more information.

Permanent residency (physical presence with an intention to remain) in the Town of Weston is the primary requirement for enrollment in the Weston Public Schools. Living with a Weston resident for the sole purpose of attending Weston schools is forbidden under Connecticut law and Weston Board of Education policy. Also in accordance with Connecticut school law, being a land owner, tax payer, or business owner in the Town of Weston does not confer residency privileges for school purposes.

  • We are no longer accepting Non-Resident Tuition Student Applications for the 2025-2026 school year.

If/when the decision is made to accept applications for the 2026-2027 school year, below is the process:

    • All non-resident students interested in attending Weston Public Schools must complete the online Non-Resident Tuition Student Application,
    • Your application will be forwarded to the applicable school for review and someone from the school main office will reach out to you,
    • If your application is approved, you will then be instructed to begin the process of registering your child (see registration process below).

Arrangements for foreign students must be made through the Office of the Superintendent of Schools prior to registration.

  • When registering a child in Weston Public Schools, families must be prepared to provide residency documentation based on their applicable situation.

Prior to beginning the registration process, gather the following documentation.  If you will be registering multiple children, you will need to upload documentation for each child during the registration process.
