Curriculum At A Glance

Curriculum at a Glance

Welcome to the Curriculum at a Glance Webpage!

In Weston, we believe that a strong partnership between school and home is essential for your child's success. To support this collaboration, our dedicated teachers have designed yearlong overviews of the curriculum for each grade level and subject area. These documents give you a comprehensive look at what your child will be learning throughout the year.

What You’ll Find:

  • Essential Questions: These are the big, thought-provoking questions that guide each unit of study. They help students connect what they're learning to real-world experiences and encourage critical thinking. For example, in a science unit about ecosystems, an essential question might be, "How do living things interact with their environment?"

  • Key Learning Experiences: These are the major activities and projects that your child will engage in to explore and understand each topic. These experiences are designed to make learning exciting and meaningful. For instance, in a history unit, a key learning experience might be a project where students create a timeline of significant events.

  • Grade Level and Content Area Standards: Our curriculum is carefully aligned with the Connecticut State Standards, ensuring that your child receives a high-quality education that meets state requirements. These standards outline the key knowledge and skills students should acquire at each grade level and in each content area. Our teams use these standards to design the guides and learning experiences for your child.

As we continue to create and update our curriculum, we will be developing more "Curriculum at a Glance" documents and posting them on our website. We encourage you to check back regularly to stay informed about your child's educational journey.

We hope these overviews give you a clear picture of your child's educational journey and inspire conversations at home about the exciting things they’re learning in school. If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
