Weston High School Welcomes New Assistant Principals

[Weston, CT, July 19, 2024] – Weston Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Parthena Proskinitopoulos and Nicholas Torres as Assistant Principals of Weston High School.

"I am thrilled to have such dedicated and passionate educators join our team as assistant principals at the high school,” said Lisa Barbiero, Superintendent of Schools. “I have no doubt that they will make a positive impact on the school community .”

Proskinitopoulos comes to Weston with a wealth of leadership experience, having served most recently as Principal of Coleytown Middle School and Assistant Principal of Staples High School in Westport. Prior to becoming a school administrator, she worked as a Technology Integration Specialist and Social Studies Teacher for Fairfield Public Schools.

Torres is entering his 7th year in Weston, having previously served as 6-12 Curriculum and Instruction Leader and Social Studies Teacher. Prior to his tenure in Weston, Torres was a Social Studies Teacher for Bridgeport and New Haven Public Schools.

About these important appointments, Weston High School’s Principal Meghan Conetta said, “this is an exciting time for Weston High School. We are thrilled to have two exceptional leaders who place students at the center of their decision-making and foster caring relationships with school staff and families.”

Proskinitopoulos and Torres will replace Juliane Givoni, who assumed the role of Director of Human Resources for the Weston Public Schools on July 1st of this year, and Matthew Filip, who will return to Weston High School in the fall as a classroom teacher. 

“I am excited and deeply grateful that I am joining the Weston Public Schools community,” said Proskinitopoulos. “I look forward to collaborating closely with our dedicated staff and supportive families to ensure that every student has a positive and enriching high school experience.” Regarding his appointment, Torres said, “I’m so thrilled to be able to continue working with our students and families in this new capacity.” 

Proskinitopoulos holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Bridgeport. She received her Certificate of Advanced Study in educational leadership and Master of Arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University. Throughout the interview process, she consistently demonstrated her passion for building connections with students, staff, and families to promote a thriving school climate. 

Torres received his Certificate of Advanced Study in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University, and he holds a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia. He is committed to working collaboratively with staff to provide equitable curricular and co-curricular opportunities for all students, and he will continue to positively impact curriculum and instruction at Weston High School in this new role.
