Announcement from Superintendent Barbiero

Dear WPS Staff and Families,

With a heart full of gratitude and a sense of bittersweet anticipation, I share with you my decision to retire as Superintendent of the Weston Public Schools, effective June 2025.

It’s hard to believe that my journey in Weston began in the fall of 1985, as a high school Spanish teacher.  I have been fortunate to serve in many roles, from teaching Spanish to students of all ages to serving as World language Department Chair, High School Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Principal and finally Superintendent.

These years have been so much more than professional milestones. They have been deeply personal and represent my life’s work.  With each passing year, my love for Weston’s students has grown stronger. My pride in our staff, who give their all every single day, has only deepened. The joy I feel each time I visit our schools is simply immeasurable. I am in awe of the energy, kindness, and dedication of our students and staff alike. To end my forty-year tenure as your Superintendent is an incredible honor.

As I look ahead to this next chapter, my hope is to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition for our district. By announcing my retirement now, I wish to give the Board ample time to conduct a thorough search for a successor who will continue to lead Weston with strength and purpose.

To the community that has been my home, I thank you for your support, trust, and partnership have made every challenge surmountable and every success meaningful.

With heartfelt appreciation and my warmest regards,

Lisa Barbiero
